Treacle Tart - OOTD

It is nearly October and I want to accept that summer is over, but the temperature has been too high to think about boots and winter coats.

I am itching to start wearing cute knitwear though! This weekend I have not cared that it has been too warm for knitwear - I have been wearing my Treacle Tart jumper by Elizabeth Lau.

Honestly, how sweet is this?

Elizabeth Lau is a London-based designer. She has designed the cutest collection for ASOS inspired by London's East End - cockney rhyming slang and graffiti.

I adore her website - check it out here.

Outfit details:

I really hate eating treacle tart by the way, I am more of a lemon tart kind of girl....

Enjoy your Monday morning - I hope it is not too bad!

Nail polish alert! OPI Wooden shoe like to know

The mornings and evenings are getting darker, and on this occasion so is my outfit and nail polish.

It's been all about brown:

One of my favourite browns is from the OPI Holland collection called "wooden shoe like to know"
Yes I know.... The name makes me cringe too!

As for the colour - It is a creamy chocolate brown with an undertone of mushroom and a hint of shimmer. Buy it here

When the light catches this polish in a certain way, you can see it has a beautiful shimmer. This is hard to capture on camera but you can see it in the bottle below.

This polish compliments any autumn OOTD and is a great addition to any collection.

Outfit details:
Top - Oasis
Skirt - Topshop
Shoes - Christian Louboutin

A blustery day at the beach OOTD

I grew up on the coast and no longer live near the sea. I miss it so much.

When I visit my hometown I like to go to the beach, it doesn't matter if its cold, I just wrap up warm and get down there....

Quarter of a Cent-Cherry

Today I am sharing my favourite cherry red nail polish. It is called Quarter of a Cent-Cherry by OPI.

This is the perfect dark red. It has a cream finish and applies like a dream. I think it is more of an autumn/winter red than a spring/summer red. So it's ideal for this time of year.

OPI have been making this colour since 2006 when they launched their 25th Anniversary collection. It is now part of their "classic colour" set - so still going strong.

Time to share some pictures......

Quarter of a Cent-Cherry looks perfect with little dresses. In fact I have never found a dress that does not look good with this nail polish. Especially cute little tea dresses.

Lemon and Berry colour blocking OOTD

I love pairing different colours together. I know that everything goes with black and black is an easy option that always works, but sometimes it is nice to mix things up a bit. Here, a dark purple contrasts with a pop of bright yellow, pulled together with multicoloured accessories in a mix of red, pink, purple, tan and black.

This outfit features one of my favourite colour combinations, if you have taken 10 minutes to read this, I would love to know what you think.

Details:
Top - H&M
Skirt, Belt and Bag - Karen Millen
Shoes - "Pigalle" by Christian Louboutin

Pretty in pink OOTD

Pink is big news for Fall Winter 2013 and as it is also a bright colour, it is a trend you can start wearing now, without waiting for the weather to get colder.

Coast has a great selection - Shop all things pink at Coast here

Yesterday I went out for cocktails with friends and wore a bright pink wrap dress.

My dress is by A wear. Buy it here. It is also available in other colours, I like this winter floral version, here, this print will take you well in autumn with chunky knits and boots.

I wanted to pair the pink with another bright colour, so I chose turquoise.

Shoes - "Piou Piou" by Christian Louboutin. These are great for a full day out bar hopping as the heels are not too high (8.5cm). They are no longer made in the satin covered version that I have, but if you like the style and cut of the shoe, you can buy an alternative version here.

Bag - Karen Millen (old)

Bright colours are perfect for cocktails and dinner in the city.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Alcatraz Rocks

Happy Friday!
Let's have a nail polish post to start the weekend.

Here is Alcatraz Rocks from the fall/winter 2013 San Francisco collection by OPI. It is a limited edition "liquid sand" polish.

OPI describes this polish as "There's no escaping this arresting textured grey" I think it looks more like a dark blue with grey undertones....

The whole point of the liquid sand effect, is that it dries down to a gritty matt texture, kind of like sand paper sprinkled with glitter!
These Pictures were taken with no top coat (as the polish is meant to be worn) in sunlight. This is where the polish really sparkles...

To show you how it looks in different light, These next pictures were taken with no top coat, inside my house (no sunlight).
Inside, you can see the sparkle is not so bling and the matt texture really shows itself - it's still very pretty though....

If you are not keen on the matt texture, and prefer how the polish looks in direct sunlight, you can simply add a topcoat to transform the polish from the liquid sand texture to a glossy glitter. This is not what OPI intended but it's your polish - wear it how you want!

These next pictures were taken with a top coat, inside my house (no sunlight).

From a distance this polish is a sophisticated dark grey/blue that will look good all year around and compliment most outfits. I think it's a winner!

Let me know what you think of the liquid sand polishes - love them, like them or hate them?
